Un homme a joué un rôle particulier dans le changement de politique des autorités soviétiques en matière religieuse lors de la perestroika : Konstantin Khartchev, président du Conseil aux affaires religieuses près le Conseil des ministres de l’URSS. Paraissant à l’origine un apparatchik comme les autres, il a découvert que, contrairement à la propagande, la religion n’avait pas perdu son attrait, et il a contribué à une politique plus réaliste. Il semble que les événements l’ont intérieurement changé.
One man significantly contributed to the Soviet authorities’ policy shift in relation to religion at the time of the perestroika, namely: Konstantin Khartchev, the Chairman of the Council for Religious Affairs in the Council of Ministers of the USSR. Though at the start he appeared no different from any other apparatshiks, he soon realized that, contrary to the government’s propaganda, religion had not lost its appeal, thereupon he supported a more realistic policy. These events must have changed him.
Особую роль в изменении политики советской власти по отношению к религии в период перестройки сыграл один человек: председатель Совета по делам религий при Совете Министров СССР Константин Харчев. Этот, на первый взгляд, очередной аппаратчик обнаружил, что, вопреки пропаганде, религия не утратила своей привлекательности, и внес свой вклад в то, чтобы политика стала более реалистичной. Похоже, что под влиянием этих событий он и сам, внутренне изменился.
