Describing the ideological discourse as a dynamic nebulous made of varied stratums, Edmond Cros analyses the representations of the immigrant in the french social imagination. These representations transcribe the colonial cultural subject’s impact where coexist two conflicting social imaginations inside a single psychological structure in the context of a semiotic continuity which links up the reality and the fantasy.

The proposal is to observe the world and the writings which build it, that is to say thinking about theories, because I think that the condition provided for every investigation and particularly today for dispute the question: how to read the Americas? Between two worlds? On the edge of the world? On the borders? dealing with the fact to apply to such problematic an eye which is no longer multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary but transdisciplinary. Because the Americanism investigation incorporate, for me, a plentiful source of information for a better comprehension to this continent in a perpetual transformation. We already know that several scientific disciplines participate on the American’s world knowledge enrichment and actually those studies depend on the disciplinary barrier. The experience shows that the wealth of knowledge about the Americas (historic, ethnographic, sociologic, philosophic, literary…) is always confirmed by the cut disciplinary, the knowledge engine. However, I think that today, after the multidisciplinary we are going to live another revolution with the constitution of bridges between the disciplines in order to erase the discontinuity between them. For him, we will start from the sociocritic of Edmond Cros when he convenes the psychoanalysis and the neurosciences in order to contemplate the unconsciousness, the no consciousness and the consciousness of the writings to reach the complexity theory of Edgar Morin.

Twenty-five years after the founding of the International Institute of Sociocriticism, a review of Costa Rican sociocritical studies expanding through educational, artistic, and political fields is here summarized. Special attention is given to the link established between this discipline and Latin American decolonial studies. Finally, under the contemporary epistemological debate work frame, this work reviews the two most crucial categories for the application of sociocritical studies: the notions of wholeness and of the system.

Angosta (2003) it’s the allegory a wide world society for a fundamentalist minority of its citizens, while a strange and narrow space for the great majority, due to the existence of numerous “checkpoints” that fix and establish consciousness alienage upon the individuals. Crossed by these imposed boundaries, Angosta, has become a dwarfed and mangled society. It is the representation of many ghost societies that establish “checkpoints” as forms of deterrence and denial of the “other” by thinking and be in a different way. Using the socio-critic school approach, we will demonstrate how two cultural subjects coexist, intersect, conflict and contradict each other in Angosta.

Drawing from semiotics, we intend to question the indigenous identity discourse through two representations of women, personages of the fiction, both servants in Lima in Alfredo Bryce Echenique’s novel Don’t Expect Me in April (1995). Revolving on gender theories as well as on the course of history, the identity discussion points towards a submission versus subversion dialectic. The discourse of the “Marginalized other” comes to correlate the stereotyped representation of the indigenous woman physically humiliated which, on a symbolic level, is a sign of cultural violence against indigenous peoples in the Americas. In contrast, we see the emergence of another discourse rehabiliting the indigenous woman. And since it originated right in the mutating Lima of the fifties, through a process called ‘the cholifcación’ it ends up being a layer of the cultural colonial subject.

The article analyzes the autofictional novel of Laura Alcoba (2007) through the concepts of cultural subject and ideologeme. It looks at the copresence of two cultural subjects: 1) the generation of the parents, participants of the armed organization Montoneros, and 2) the children, who were affected by the militancy of the parents. The novel is legible thus as an attempt to confront the past marked by a language and an ideology that were assumed as “natural”, but disappeared due to the repression of the military dictatorship – and to find a language to express both this disapparition and a subjectivity of her own.

Many sociocritics consider cultural work not as an isolated object but as social product. Sharing this viewpoint, we came to the conclusion that any work of art has many authors. The present work has permitted us to shed a little more light on the notion of author and to attribute to the cultural subject some complementary roles, rights and duties. In sociocriticism, it should rather be a matter of co-author and co-property than author and property. Cultural co-authors, for being numerous, are complementary, enforce mutually and enforce the cultural subject. Individual subject’s participation is not lost because this one acts simultaneously as an active and sole product and as passive member of the society that generates the work of art. Besides, to each actor of the production corresponds one right, the co-authors’ right that could be shared among individual and collective common subjects.

Raoul Ruiz and Alexandre Jodorowski have questioned the cultural text of the colonization of America in their films. The first one, in The Suspended Vocation, by the demolition of a theological part of speech which tended to legitimize the conquista and its consequences; the second, in The Holy Mountain, by a shaping mise en abyme, who brings into conflict, as a bloody fight, toads representing conquistadores, and chameleons represented the Indians. In these two movies, the political meaning of the narrative comes along with a demolition of this one, associated with a particular form of iconoclasm, which constitutes a questioning of the initial cultural text and its representation in images. These directors at the same time revisit a second cultural text, that of the life as a dream and of the theatrum mundi, which also questions the reality of the image. Finally, this destruction allows a transfer of the sacred to the art; the ruizian shamanism and the jodorowskian syncretism tending to be substituted for the Christian religious imaging.
