L’article analyse la montée en puissance du sentiment national au fil des événements historiques : la fin du régime phanariote et le traité d’Andrinople, l’élaboration d’un projet commun à la Valachie et à la Moldavie, le souffle de la liberté en 1848 qui confirme la fascination du modèle occidental. Il faut ensuite faire la part des choses entre les deux Principautés, du vieux pays, Valachie et Moldavie et la conscience nationale des habitants de l’Empire austro-hongrois, dans le Banat et en Transylvanie. How did the three Romanian Lands – each with its own history – create present-day Romania acting as a nation state? This article will focus on the rise of nationalist feelings over the various historical events: the end of the Phanariote epoch and the treaty of Andrinople, the elaboration of a common project for Wallachia and Moldova, the impression of freedom in 1848 which expressed the fascination for the Western model.
