The presence of Fedorov’s ideas in the Soviet Union has three reasons: some organised flows of ideas, such as bio-cosmism, defend similar conceptions to those exposed by Fedorov; some devoted followers of Fedorov actively promote his ideas; the economic difficulties of the USSR, and especially the persistence of starvation, remind Fedorov’s discussion of the matter. This presence calls into question the alleged religious nature of Fedorov's philosophy and also the alleged marxist character of the Soviet state.

It is generally considered that the notion of Sobornost, central for Russian political philosophy, comes from Theology: the ideal principle of unity of the universal Church is thought to have been seen progressively as a principle of social unity. Nevertheless, the study of the writings of Khomiakov, the first promoter of this notion, shows that the unity-principle he attributes to the Sobornost is also the one that he considers to be at the root of the diversity of nations. So, from the beginning, the Sobornost calls into question the idea of a universal community that would pretend to be constituted without regarding this irreducible diversity. Traduction russe de Ilya Platov
