In this article, Svetlana Semionova presents three portraits of thinkers who try to think from their own singularity about the future of mankind in a world in evolution. A highly marked singularity, since the focus here is on a Russian essayist Fëdorov, a French Jesuit (Teilhard de Chardin) and an Indian mystic (Aurobindo). For each of them, the central issue is the future of man (and humanity) – anthropogenesis – on the threshold of a world whose structures are permanently changing and becoming more complex, as Teilhard observed in his research on geology and paleontology. Fëdorov and Teilhard de Chardin have a religious base in the Christian tradition, although submitted to a fairly radical reconsideration, with a special emphasis, for Teilhard de Chardin, on the notion of cosmogenesis. The largest costrast concerns the Indian thinker, for whom anthropogenesis moves man away from the world, urging him to break free from inherited humanity to something to appear in himself that could be called a quasi-deity. The relationships between these three figures is complex, in both their similarities and their contrasts.

This article examines the foundations the philosophical and religious vision of the world of the poet and visionary Russian Daniil Andreev (1906-1959) and his view of human destiny as it is exposed in his mystical treatise The Rose of the World. His fundamental insights are close to those of Russian cosmism, and more generally to those Russian religious thinkers who advocate an active Christianity (Solovyov, Fiodorov). Like them, he considers that God's creation remains unfinished. Andreev considers authentic religion to be a «project» where man actively participates in the building of a more perfect world. The man must be a «co-creator» to God, a view that is coherent with the idea that man was created in the image and likeness to God. This belief underlies the project of The Rose of the World, an era of Earth's future history characterized by the triumph of the fraternity and human creativity. It will emerge at the end of a gradual process that will witness an increasing subordination of matter to spirit, and an improvement of human nature.
