The Inner Form of the Word in G. Shpet's and A. Marty's Theories

A. Marty had a remarkable impact on Gustav Shpet’s philosophy of language. In his Untersuchungen zur Grundlegung der allgemeinen Grammatik und Sprachphilosophie (1908) Marty investigates in detail inner form of the word. Shpet considers Marty’s theory several time in his production, but especially the work Jazyk i smysl (1921–1925) is devoted to debate Marty’s view of the question. Although Shpet refuses the Marty psychologism, he considers his approach and argumentation the most convincing for the right settelment of the inner form of the word.
