      <title>Richard Burton, voyageur et « constructeur » colonial</title>
      <link>http://interfas.univ-tlse2.fr/reflexos/210</link>
On the one hand, he is amazed by nature, describing a Brazil with paradisiacal contours. On the other hand, he criticizes the miscegenation among Brazilians, which he considers a pernicious contamination that must be avoided. In his circulations, Burton is unable to detach himself from a supremacist and comparative vision in which the reference point is the West and Europe, considering other peoples, in this case Brazilians, as inferior to the English.
