In this paper we propose to analyze some poems from the mozambican José Craveirinha, aiming to demonstrate that the relationship between literature and politics were important for nation building, through a poetic expression that praises the transformation and moves by utopia, questioning the condition imposed by colonialism.

In Esaü and Jacob, Machado de Assis employs a central, contradictory narrator who challenges the reader and encourages reflection on enunciation, fiction, and reading. The narrative voice creates a playful, interactive space where the reader is active and aware, introducing a political dimension of personal judgment.

This work proposes, based on the reading of the novels Blindness and The year of the death of Ricardo Reis and their filmic adaptations by Fernando Meirelles and João Botelho, to analyze how the cinematographic discourse appropriates José Saramago’s novels in the sense of adhering to their metafictional and political nature, thus composing filmic texts with a self-reflexive feature.
