Ana de Castro Osório and Maria Archer left a profound mark on Portuguese literature in the early and mid-twentieth century. Both writers explored the place occupied by women within the family and society, boldly presenting new female trajectories through which they anticipated and deconstructed what would later become, at the end of the twentieth century, the stereotype theorised by Pierre Bourdieu in his well-known work Masculine Domination.
