      <link>http://interfas.univ-tlse2.fr/reflexos/518</link>
This text seeks to analyze the intricacies of Portugal’s historical connection to the African continent through references to African spaces in Portuguese literature, a relationship regarded as one of the most significant topics of Portuguese identity. Reflection on Africa in Portuguese literature unfolded between the sense of belonging imposed by the heroization of the past and the desire to assert an Atlantic identity following the abandonment of the African colonies. Tracing the historical transformations of Portuguese colonialism, it is observed that the dissemination of this theme occurred primarily from the 19th century onward, up to the pivotal moment of memory regarding the Colonial War, where the colonial “trauma” is joined by the need for reflection in the post-colonial period, often echoing the memory of the national past. </description>
