Ademais, apresentamos algumas crenças de estudantes chilenos concernentes à aprendizagem e ao uso da língua portuguesa por se tratar de uma língua próxima ao espanhol para alunos que terão o português para fins de tradução. Tendo em conta a pesquisa efetivada, os resultados indicam para a importância de implementação de uma política linguística e uma revisão dos programas de língua portuguesa da graduação em Linguística Aplicada à Tradução. The paper touches on some current issues of the educational reality in Chile regarding the Portuguese Language, as well as the difficulties concerning the teaching and learning of the Portuguese Language at an undergraduate degree in Applied Linguistics to Translation in the University of Santiago of Chile - USACH. In addition, given that Portuguese is a language close to Spanish, we also present some beliefs of Chilean students who study Portuguese for translation purposes.
