      <link>http://interfas.univ-tlse2.fr/reflexos/1938</link>
The aim of this article is to discuss the possible meanings of the performance of Voltaire's tragedy Zaire at the Vila Rica theatre on 14 July 1793 - one year after the end of the legal process against the anti-fiscalist and anti-metropolitan colonial revolt known as the Inconfidência Mineira and on the historic anniversary of the storming of the Bastille, which was the beginning of the French Revolution. The study will take as its starting point the association of colonial scholars who created the Ultramarine Academy and the theatre itself, through the circulation of Voltaire's theatrical work in Portuguese America at the end of the eighteenth century, and the study of Voltaire's text in the local context? Hypotheses will be drawn as to the meaning of this ambiguous representation on the stage of the small colonial theatre. </description>
