In Portugal in the second half of the eighteenth century, dramatic texts, whether published or n ot, were rarely accompanied by the author and/or translator, are rarely accompanied by the author's and/or translator's name. The latter are deprived of one of the functional signs of their auctoriality, of their presence in the the text, or in its margin. What is the status of the author in the economy of the text and, more of the text and, more generally, of the dramatic performance? Censorship (the Real Mesa Censória) is only one of the explanation for the anonymity of the text. This study will discuss the status of the playwright, which can be identified through the specific documents that are the negative pareceres of the RMC. In addition to the author, the reception of the theatre includes many agents, which raises the question of the question of the playwright's involvement in the society of his time. If we witness the emergence of this social status in Europe, it was not until the very end of the eighteenth century that this notion appeared in Portugal.
