In virtual reality, an innovative approach is now being applied to the olfactory system, which has previously been underestimated. The Participe 3.0 research project aims to support the socio-educational strategies of young people with autism, using novel artefacts. Exploratory results suggest that an anthropocentric immersive environment stimulates learning for autistic individuals with specific psycho-sensory percepts, in which the olfactory channel constitutes a heuristic vector.
