<title>Quel laser pour Mars ? Analyse mécanologique d’une innovation extra-terrestre</title>
      <link>http://interfas.univ-tlse2.fr/nacelles/735</link>
Launched in 2011, Curiosity is the first scientific complex to carry a laser on Mars. Integrated within a highly sophisticated spectroscopic instrument (ChemCam) and endowed with remarkable technical characteristics, this laser is undeniably an innovation. In order to better understand the nature of this innovation, we will use an original method of investigation in the history and philosophy technology field: genetic mecanology. Analysis will proceed in three stages. First, we propose a structural analysis of ChemCam in order to characterize the operation performed. Then, we will carry out a genetic analysis of the lasers family in order to trace the technical lineages which have led to the ChemCam’s laser. Finally, we will study the design processes that has engendered it. We will see that, more than an innovation, it is a customization, imposed by the very strong constraints coming from the associated medium. </description>
