      <link>http://interfas.univ-tlse2.fr/nacelles/561</link>
World War I is the first conflict to witness a large-scale use of air warfare. Air warriors are involved in a singular warfare that makes them different from land soldiers. Indeed, their material conditions bring into light a new type of “super” fighter (the “aces”), thereby fostering a specific war and death culture. This one is constituted by elements drawn from both antique and medieval imagination, as well as from the individualistic and adventurous spirit of flight’s pioneers in the very beginning of the 20th century. </description>
