<title>Le deal Eastern Air Lines – Airbus : une vente charnière</title>
      <link>http://interfas.univ-tlse2.fr/nacelles/1462</link>
In 1977, following a tough year, Airbus Commercial offered to entrust four A300B4s to the American company Eastern Airlines to trial. By Easter, Eastern Airlines had the opportunity to test the operational capabilities and condition of the aircraft prior to making a decision to purchase. This unprecedented offer in the field of air transportation was motivated by the difficulties Airbus experienced in entering the American domestic market dominated by Boeing, McDonnell Douglas and Lockheed. The original offer proposal highlighted the innovative spirit driving the GIE Airbus teams, not only in the technical field, but also in the sales and marketing campaign. Following a six month trial and despite the criticisms and difficulties encountered, the trial paid off and Frank Borman, CEO of Eastern Airlines placed an order for 23 aircraft. This was a pivotal turning point in the history of Airbus, validating the quality of the A300B product and the credibility of the young firm. </description>
