      <link>http://interfas.univ-tlse2.fr/nacelles/1014</link>
Giulio Douhet is world-famous for his theory of command of the air formulated during the Great War and its immediate aftermath. A theory that strongly influenced the organisation and doctrines of use of military aviation. However, Douhet also played a political role in the post-war period: in his articles published in the newspaper Il Dovere in 1919-1921, he expressed the discontent of military circles and part of the Italian bourgeoisie with the results of the Versailles peace negotiations and the changing internal political situation in their country. Douhet’s polemical political considerations illustrate well the shift of the Italian bourgeoisie, including perhaps its fraction traditionally camped on positions of republican and Mazzinian matrix, towards positions ever closer to those of nascent fascism. The failure of the patriotic design of “Greater Italy”, the disappointment with the peace treaties and the increase in social unrest during the Biennio Rosso (1919-1920) were the main causes that led Douhet to view fascism with increasing favour, seeing it as a political force capable of restoring social peace and raising Italy to the rank of a great power. </description>
