The matter of literalness (literality) of the opera libretto and of the librettist statute confronted with the literary institutions is a major question in the opera history. One of the means to explore this relation between libretto and « high » literature, is that of the editorial strategies used by librettists. Besides editions of separate booklets in reduced size, the office of which beeing to help the spectator during the performance in following the development of the sung work, and where the poetical text remains subordinated to the music exigencies and often to manyfold rewritings, there exist other types of opera librettos editions, which emphasize the « Poet » creativeness in the lyric production. The twofold edition of Poesie dramatiche (sic) by Giovan Andrea Moniglia (1624-1700) which is analysed here, is a meaning and very unknown example of this proceeding through which the libretto gains its autonomy and a literary work statute.

In the 1920s, the poet Corrado Govoni started writing almost exclusively in prose, and this for about twenty years. It was within this period that he imagined the vicissitudes of Don Renato in a novel that remained in manuscript form and was never published as a result of censorship: the poet has displeased Mussolini, who felt his attitude to be too brash and had before prohibited its publication. Time and again, Govoni tried to bring out his novel, which he considered an essential part of his literary work. In the meantime, he had decided to entitle it… Censura. It is only in 1960 that the text, thoroughly reworked, came out under the title Uomini sul Delta.

This is a study about contemporary French poetry spreading in Italy from 1995 to 2008. Poetry, because of its elitist nature, has a small publishing place. To achieve “sound investments”, publishing houses publish only the most famous authors, “les grands contemporains”. Nevertheless, the situation is different for literary reviews: covering also local network, they give space to a larger number of French poets and not only classics. So, contemporary French poetry spreading is in the care of courageous reviews and poets-translators-university-professors that share and transfer their deep passion for poetry.

In a time, where economic interests and power gain the upper hand to the detriment of the real culture, keeping the discussion about poetry is of primary importance, because the poetry speaks about our time. In spite of the pitiful situation of Italy, where the number of readers decreases and literary revues have a hard-living, the revue L’immaginazione and Manni publishing house carry on their project about protection, research and circulation of culture with determination and passion.

The literary revue « Anterem », with its five cycles from 1976 up to now, is dedicated to the original experience of saying. This is a pursuit of the original word, which is before the thought. It would be better to call it « whisper » which expresses itself as a breath and may be found in poetry. Poetic word tries to recreate the coexistence between voice and silence. The poet, going to the origin of this laceration between opposites, tries to obtain a concordance in order to find a further meaning.

In 1993, two poems came out under the title « Inediti » (previously unpublished) in Andrea Zanzotto’s selected writings Poesie (1938-1986), edited by Stefano Agosti. The two poems werenever published again, neither in his collections, Meteo (1996) and Sovrimpressioni (2001), nor in Le Poesie e Prose scelte (the 1999 Meridiani Mondadori volume). The two « previously unpublished » seem to have been temporarily left in the dark, as it were, or eclipsed. This paper will briefly explore the writing of Zanzotto and this will lead us to conside his poetics in the wake of Stéphane Mallarmé’s « scintillation » and Eugenio Montale’s « glimmer ».
