The text analyzes the influence that the writer and translator Gianni Celati (1937-) has had on the Emilian authors of the following generations. It is in particular the attention to the philosophy of the imagination, to the oral speech and to the multilingual voice, given by the knowledge of other languages and dialects, that offers a comparison between the narrative texts of Celati and those written by Stefano Benni, Ermanno Cavazzoni and Paolo Nori. The origin of this communality can be found in Lewis Carroll’s Alice, in her imaginative realities and languages, but also in the spoken language, picked up directly in the street, by the voices of its protagonists. Besides, the shared experience of the literary magazine Il Semplice (1995-1997) connects the four writers together in the long search of translating the numerous oral tones of humor in written forms.

This article aims to highlight the influence and the dissemination experienced by Poggio Bracciolini’s Liber facetiarum in the French literature and culture between the 15th and the 16th centuries. Along these lines, I want to reflect on the free-style reinterpretation of the Facéties made by Guillaume Tardif (1492). Through this translation, we will be able to consider the problems of disseminating and receiving a text from one linguistic context to another. Finally, although Tardif took the credit for inserting in the French language the word «facécie», it is indispensable to mention one of the main French exponents of the humanist facéties, Bonaventure des Périers who, through the Nouvelles récréations et joyeux devis, reconstructs in fact, in both the content and form, the farcical essence that animated the Poggio Bracciolini’s Facetiae.
