This article looks into the three parts of Luigi Dallapiccola's Choirs of Michelangelo Buonarroti the Younger, the work composed between 1932 and 1936, representing a crucial moment in the artistic evolution of the composer and in the development of his music language. In this critical essay the study of the relationship between the lyrics and the music has been emphasised, since this fact has always been of great interest to Luigi Dallapiccola, a brilliant musician and a passionate expert on literature, not only the Italian one.
