This article analyses university theatre as a space for the transmission and reworking of Italianità within the French university context. Drawing on the experience of La Mascareta workshop at Sorbonne Université, it examines the role of the teacher-director in the selection of Italian dramatic repertoire, from the Renaissance to contemporary writing, and its pedagogical, cultural, and political implications. The concept of juvenilization of early texts is developed as a process of scenic reactivation grounded in translation, body and voice, and attention to effects on the audience, positioning university theatre as a site of experimentation and political commitment.

Highlighting the centrality of translation as a tool for conveying ideas and worldviews, crucial in intercultural exchange, the article underscores the imbalances in cultural exchanges between France and Italy during the Renaissance. Moreover, it focuses on two prominent printers of the city of Ferrara: Vittorio Baldini and Benedetto Mammarello, who both printed translations of Montaigne’s works. These printers, along with some translators like Girolamo Naselli and Ercole Cato, played a fundamental role in disseminating French literature in Italy, further strengthening the bond between French and Italian culture.

This article explores a possible relationship between painting and poetry, illustrated by the work of Francesco Furini, who depicts these arts as sisters in a painting from 1616. The essay traces the evolution of this perception, from the harmony between the two art forms in antiquity to a clear distinction during the Renaissance. Later in time, the Twentieth century saw an innovative fusion between the two arts, in particular with the visual poetry of Antonia Pozzi, who combined words and images. Born in 1912, Pozzi, a poet and photographer, used the visual element to express her aesthetics, emphasizing the central role of sight in her work, evoking emotions and landscapes through rich and colorful descriptions.

The article introduces eight essays, later collected in a volume entitled: XVIth century Italian and Venetian printed works in the Rare Book Collection. The collection consists of eight bibliographical, philological and literary studies of eight volumes from the XVth and XVIth centuries, stored in the library of the University of Quebec (UQAM), in Montreal. The works range from poetry and historiography to mythology and theology and also translation of ancient works. The Canadian collection aims to illustrate the combined development of art, technique and ideas during the Italian Humanistic Age. The collection demonstrates not only how literary works of the time were intertwined, but also its subsequent impact on Quebec entering the modern age.
