Domenico Sauli, born and raised in a prestigious family of merchants and bankers on full economic and political rise in Genoa between the fifteenth and the sixteenth century, left his city for Milan, where he held high offices first for Francis II Sforza, then for Charles V, before being accused of embezzlement and being banished from the court. The present study, that is interested particularly to the memoir of Domenico Sauli and the letters copied and attached herewith, wishes to present the emblematic course of its author who decides to leave Genoa to settle in Milan.

The urban environment in the Italian literature of migration has been an issue little explored by critics. With the following article we propose to analyze the concept of the Urban Route and we will try to identify types and examples of routes. This concept will be attached to the Italian cities that appear in the novels examinated, and the analysis wll be carried out through the analysis of stylistic techniques of the authors. By highlighting the strategies of ownership of the land by the characters, their sensorial pathways, we will show how these strategies demystify the urban ideology underlying the common imaginary.

Elvira Dones, Ornela Vorpsi and Anilda Ibrahimi are the three Albanese female novelists who represent women’s migration in Italian literature. Whereas the first works of these three authors are autobiographical, their later publications are devoted to the theme of migration, developed according to various paradigms. What is brought to the fore in these first works is the confrontation of the writer with her past in Albany. In the following works, new characters take shape in the wake of her own experience, new stories and situations are built up, talking place in the post-diaspora period and leaving behind any connections with the past. The present paper investigates the evolution of the sense of place as applied both to the notion of residence and to an unknown territory whose appeal ultimately gives birth to writing.
