      <title>Mostruosità femminile e tragedia della maternità</title>
      <link>http://interfas.univ-tlse2.fr/lineaeditoriale/2099</link>
Portamedina's Medea by Maria Luisa and Mario Santella is a 1980 rewriting of the Medea myth, a theatrical adaptation of the 19th century novel of the same name by Francesco Mastriani. It is a tragedy of motherhood in which both mothers and illegitimate daughters are the victims, in a society where laws are made by men and where honour and respectability count more than any natural ties. Faced with the impossibility of social redemption, infanticide presents itself as a necessity, as a kind of maternal euthanasia. </description>
