Based on an essay by Thomas Mann on the link between Michelangelo's Neoplatonism and the artist's perception of his ageing body, the article returns to texts in which a powerful senile eroticism is asserted, leading Michelangelo to confess a fundamental inability to renounce desire. This failure invites a comparison with the impossible conversion of Petrarch, who also confesses his inability to “limit his desire” in the Secretum. From then on, Michelangelo's poetry, which traditionally escapes Petrarchanism in part, as much by the choice of a language contaminated by Florentineisms as by an ostensible admiration for Dante, thus reconnects with the essence of Petrarchan poetry.

This article explores a possible relationship between painting and poetry, illustrated by the work of Francesco Furini, who depicts these arts as sisters in a painting from 1616. The essay traces the evolution of this perception, from the harmony between the two art forms in antiquity to a clear distinction during the Renaissance. Later in time, the Twentieth century saw an innovative fusion between the two arts, in particular with the visual poetry of Antonia Pozzi, who combined words and images. Born in 1912, Pozzi, a poet and photographer, used the visual element to express her aesthetics, emphasizing the central role of sight in her work, evoking emotions and landscapes through rich and colorful descriptions.

In this article the poetic sources of the lyrics in the music drama Le sette canzoni by Gian Francesco Malipiero have been studied. Because of a very detailed research, the original texts from which Malipiero derived the poetry have been found out. An accurate comparison between these original verses and their transcription into the score of the opera has been made. The investigation starts from the fact that Le sette canzoni is the first work of Malipiero whose lyrics are part of the ancient Italian poetry and are not written by the author himself. In conclusion the first assessments of the relationship between the lyrics and the music in this Malipiero’s work have been established.

This article looks into the three parts of Luigi Dallapiccola's Choirs of Michelangelo Buonarroti the Younger, the work composed between 1932 and 1936, representing a crucial moment in the artistic evolution of the composer and in the development of his music language. In this critical essay the study of the relationship between the lyrics and the music has been emphasised, since this fact has always been of great interest to Luigi Dallapiccola, a brilliant musician and a passionate expert on literature, not only the Italian one. For this article consulting some unpublished documents turned out to be of use.

This article is both a commentary on, and a homage paid to the poetry of Flavio Ermini, and especially to the bilingual edition of Poema no.10, Tra Pensiero, translated into French by François Bruzzo, foreword by Franc Ducros (Plis de Pensée, Nîmes, France, published by Lucie Editions 2007). The article consists in a reflection on the poem's darkness and the way it « always hovers between perceiving and being, between the name itself and the named object ».

Startingfrom a reflection on translation, this paper will address the modalities of Rèbora’s poetry and willtry to understand the reasons why the French public finds it difficult to understand a poetry characterized by expressionist incandescence and - with regard to a second moment of this poetic production - by a religious trend at odds with a French education that is wary of mixing the secular and the sacred.

The literary revue « Anterem », with its five cycles from 1976 up to now, is dedicated to the original experience of saying. This is a pursuit of the original word, which is before the thought. It would be better to call it « whisper » which expresses itself as a breath and may be found in poetry. Poetic word tries to recreate the coexistence between voice and silence. The poet, going to the origin of this laceration between opposites, tries to obtain a concordance in order to find a further meaning.

In a time, where economic interests and power gain the upper hand to the detriment of the real culture, keeping the discussion about poetry is of primary importance, because the poetry speaks about our time. In spite of the pitiful situation of Italy, where the number of readers decreases and literary revues have a hard-living, the revue L’immaginazione and Manni publishing house carry on their project about protection, research and circulation of culture with determination and passion.
