The Italian writer Curzio Malaparte staged in 1951 a feature film called Il Cristo proibito. This film was his only foray into filmmaking. The author of Kaputt and The Skin had at first planned to publish the fictionalized version of this title with Bompiani edition, but the project never came through. The film, on the other hand, was presented in competition during the 1951 edition of the Cannes Film Festival. This article analyzes its critical reception after it was launched, and also after a digital edition was released in 2012. It then proposes to position the film in relation to the neorealist cinema of the time, and, most importantly, after emphasizing the constitutive features of Baroque art, to assess to what extent it may be viewed as «cinematographic Baroque».

Brossard’s Élévations et Motets (1695) - introduced through a glossary of Italian usual terminology as a first draft of the Dictionnaire of 1703 - testify the French growing attraction for Italy. Despite the practices, Brossard collected in this religious music book the opera genres while partially eliminating their forms. The stylistic analysis of the compendium shows with what command and freedom he inserts in France this new Italy, and finally how this French composer without an Italian master and without an Italian journey really appropriates this liking.
