This paper retraces Patrice Dalle's most significant contributions to the field of Automatic Sign Language Processing, through the projects in which he has participated and the PhD thesis he has supervised. It is structured in five periods or themes which cover his work relating to the modelling of the way LSF operates on various aspects going from the signing space to the graphical forms, always with the aim to automate the analysis and the treatment of LSF videos in order to provide tools for these videos. This work led to the design of a series of software gathered within the LogiSignes software package dedicated to the education in LSF. In this exemplary and unique career, which reflects his image as both a researcher and an activist, he has managed to preserve his two facets without betraying either of them. Bilingual education for Deaf, French Sign Language/written French, was one of Patrice Dalle's great struggles. This article, which pays homage to him, examines the state of bilingual education from primary to undergraduate levels. It notes the lack of educational tools and specific lexicons in French Sign Language, mainly for higher education, which hinders the success of young deaf people in scientific studies. In response, the Sign’Maths group offers, on its website and accessible to all, mathematical notions with definitions and examples in French Sign Language. The article explains the evolution of Sign’Maths, which is supported today by University Authorities and the French National Education Ministry. The group, Sign’Maths, includes Deaf, people conversant in French Sign Language and Mathematics teachers of all levels. It describes the methodology for choosing new signs in mathematics: taking into account epistemological and linguistic aspects as well as the needs of the field. Sign'Maths illustrates the desire of Deaf people to become actors in science. CotaSigne is a linguistic research project aimed at collecting, analysing and evaluating the production of narratives in French Sign Language (LSF) of children aged between 4 and 11 years. Meeting the shared needs of linguistic research in language acquisition, language therapy and teaching in/of LSF, this research project is participatory in nature, involving researchers, educational professionals and language therapists, deaf and hearing, and includes an online platform with computerised scoring and visualisation of results. In this article, we highlight the way in which CotaSigne fits in with the scientific and deontological heritage of Patrice Dalle and his work, by relying on uses and users on the one hand, by associating the different expertises to the different stages of the research process on the other hand, and by putting LSF at the heart of the reflection, both as the language studied and as the working language. In France, all young people have the right to choose and pursue higher education studies. What about deaf people or hard of hearing people? Since the 2005 laws, disability has been one of the greatest priorities of diverse governments, especially inclusion. Even though this will is clearly declared by the legislature, the lack of accessible educational training opportunities and the uneven realities across the country point to failure to respect the republic values such as Liberty (freedom of choice) and Equality (equality of access…). This leaves some citizens on sidelines of a society that is increasingly inclusive. So, who are those people who, in spite of this, go on to higher education? How do their specific characteristics - mode of communication, cultural background, linguistic background, environment, etc. influence their path? Accessibility, Bilingualism, Inclusion, French sign language, Deafness

Is poetic translation more difficult than other types of translation? Is it even achievable? Many critics, translators, academics and even poets have been discussing these questions. While some may claim that only poets are able to translate poetry properly, others argue that poetic translation can be accessible to any translator. Yet, in order to do so, one would need to develop – as in any translation field – a variety of technical and theoretical skills and knowledge, as well as showing some artistic ability. This is the topic I have chosen to explore for the current academic project. I decided to undertake the translation of poems from The World’s Wife, a collection written by Carol Ann Duffy and published in 1999. In a series of portraits, the author revisits different myths, stories and fairytales in order to give back their voices to women usually silenced. In this article I will go over some of the key points that helped me develop a translation method that fits Carol Ann Duffy's poetic writing: which means translating the literary text as a discourse, translating networks of meaning and poeticity, translating a political voice and the difficulties of poetic translation. poetry translation, poetry translation methodology, Carol Ann Duffy, The World’s Wife

This article presents a study on the -i/-is and -e/-es endings in the LGTBI-speaking community. The motivation for this research comes from the representation of non-binary gender in the Spanish language, recently marked by the -e endings, which are also used to create an inclusive plural that avoids the generic masculine. Along the same lines, uses have been detected, within the LGTBI-speaking community, of another group of endings (-i/-is) that seem to nullify the gender distinction. The data have been extracted from a sociolinguistic survey carried out by the author of this work. In the sociolinguistic part, the aim is to outline the type of user of these endings, towards whom they are addressed and with what intention. On the pragmatic side, the functions that are activated with the use of these endings will be analyzed, focusing the analysis on performativity, mitigation, and affiliation.
