L’étude de L’Imaginaire, et des incursions dans Qu’est-ce que la littérature ? démontrent qu’au contraire, Sartre a pensé une imagination ne pouvant être que créatrice car elle est spontanéité et liberté. En allant jusqu’à questionner la dimension utopique de l’imagination, cet article met en lumière les inflexions humanistes qui peuvent être dégagées de la phénoménologie de l’image de Sartre, et le sens à leur donner. By reading again Sartre’s phenomenological texts on imagination, in the light of the question of humanism, this article offers a path through these texts, starting with a debate: the questioning of the possibility of creative imagination in Sartre’s vision. Studying L’Imaginaire and Qu’est-ce que la littérature? demonstrates that, on the contrary, Sartre’s theory considers imagination as consciousness, spontaneity and freedom. By going up to the question of the possible utopian dimension of imagination, this article highlights the humanist inflections that one can trace from the Sartrean phenomenology of the image, and what meaning they hold.
