    <link>http://interfas.univ-tlse2.fr/kairos/106</link>
The aim of the article is to question the place of knowledge (nosographic and psychopathological) in the clinical encounter, with regard to the approach of a patient whose unrepresentable and unpredictable singularity necessarily escapes knowledge. Although Ludwig Binswanger’s proposal initiated a crucial movement towards the singularity of the patient, it led, despite his own warnings, to the formation of a nosography that retains a normative character, specific to knowledge. Emmanuel Levinas’ analyses, taking the measure of the radicality of the “phenomenality” of others, make it possible to conceive an unprecedented “diachronic” relationship, from which a prereflexive and passive vigilance towards the patient becomes thinkable. This vigilance, while relying on temporary knowledge, does not reduce the transcendence of the other, but is an incessant “restlessness” for the other who, as “patience”, exposes itself to their unpredictability and to the risk of suffering. </description>
